Looking for a gift for Dad or a UC Davis grad? “The Davis Farmers Market Cookbook” makes a great gift for dads who love to cook and shop the market, and for UCD graduates for whom the market is a special memory of their college years.
Co-authors Georgeanne Brennan and Ann Evans will be on hand to sign cookbooks from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in Central Park, Fourth and C streets. UC Davis Dining Services will offer tastes of the deviled eggs with tarragon recipe from the cookbook.
The cookbook includes a history of the Davis Farmers Market plus a foreword by Alice Waters, food activist, author and proprietor of Chez Panisse restaurant in Berkeley.
Waters writes, “The Davis Farmers Market has long been at the vanguard in this nation, and it has led the way for the thousands of markets that have sprung up around the country. … This book is a beautiful tribute to the people who have kept this market alive and vibrant for nearly 40 years, with every recipe a little love letter to the farmers who grow the ingredients.”
