Backpacks, school supplies collected for Yolo kids

By From page A3 | July 31, 2013

The Yolo County Backpacks for Kids organization is collecting donations as part of its seventh annual fundraising drive.

Since 2007, Backpacks for Kids has provided more than 7,000 quality backpacks and school supplies for children in need. Donations to Backpacks for Kids are used solely for Yolo County children and are distributed to various agencies, including the Department of Social Services, Yolo County Children’s Alliance, Fourth & Hope Homeless Shelter and Yolo County Housing.

This year, the Friends of the Woodland Library, Woodland Staples store and Ikea in West Sacramento have offered to be drop-off locations. Bins are found in the main lobbies of the Woodland Public Library, 250 First St.; Woodland Staples, 1770 E. Main St; and Ikea, 700 Ikea Court, West Sacramento. Donations also may be dropped off at Supervisor Don Saylor’s office, 600 A St. in Davis.
