It’s time to set aside fiscal-cliff doom, debt ceiling drama, global warming worries and even unpaid personal bills to celebrate the inauguration of President Barack Obama.
Yolo County residents don’t have to fly to Washington, D.C., and pay up to $10,000 per ticket to attend the ball. Everyone is invited to a free inaugural ball from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at the Palms Playhouse, 13 Main St. in downtown Winters.
“Ball Gowns to Blue Jeans II” the second inaugural ball sponsored by the West Yolo Democratic Club, offers free food catered by Cynthia Rodriguez and entertainment by Winters’ own Bonanza King Band playing Western and swing music.
Attendees may wear gowns from a thrift store or their everyday jeans as they greet their friends and neighbors and meet local dignitaries.
