Banjoist to perform at Atria Covell Gardens

Jack Convery, a banjo player who has performed with music legends Bing Crosby and Perry Como, will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Atria Covell Gardens, 1111 Alvarado Ave. in Davis. The concert is free and open to the public.

Convery, who won the 1973 United Artists best banjoist of Northern California contest, has been the director of the San Francisco 49ers Band since 1987.

A singer and guitarist as well, his repertoire includes timeless jazz classics, novelty show-stoppers and country, pop and bluegrass standards arranged for the banjo.

In addition to Crosby and Como, Convery has worked with legendary entertainers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Arthur Godfrey, Willie Nelson and The Temptations.
