Barry Melton visits ‘Davisville’
Barry Melton, who will play a benefit concert in Davis on Oct. 20, talks about his twin careers as a Yolo County attorney and nationally known guitarist on the current “Davisville” program on KDRT radio.
Melton, who co-founded Country Joe and the Fish as a teenager, later became an attorney and spent 10 years as public defender of Yolo County. On “Davisville” he discusses why he moved to Yolo County, the similarities between trying a case in court and performing on stage, the band he’ll play with at the Odd Fellows Hall on Oct. 20, how Davis has changed since the 1960s and more.
He has performed at locations as varied as UC Davis’ Freeborn Hall, the Monterey Pop Festival and Woodstock.
“Davisville” airs on KDRT, 95.7 FM, at 5:30 p.m. Monday, 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, 10:30 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. Saturday. The program is also available online at www.kdrt.org/node/7794.
