A fundraising dinner Sunday for the California Farm Academy’s scholarship program will showcase agricultural bounty from both sides of Putah Creek.
“Knives Across the Creek” will feature a grass-fed beef dinner at 5 p.m. at Buckhorn Steakhouse, 12 Main St. in Winters. The event is a collaborative effort of Buckhorn Steakhouse, Agricola Grass-fed Beef and the Center for Land-Based Learning, home to California Farm Academy.
Additional dinner ingredients in the menu to be prepared by Putah Creek Café chef Fred Reyes will come from local farms north and south of Putah Creek, in Yolo and Solano counties.
The California Farm Academy trains beginning farmers in all aspects of agricultural production of specialty crops and livestock through field work and intensive classes. This hands-on, interactive program and farm business incubator brings together production, marketing and business planning to give beginning farmers a solid foundation in what they need to know to get started with their own farm business.
The academy is located on the south side of Putah Creek in Solano County, just west of Davis. Learn more at www.californiafarmacademy.org.
Tickets are $100 each, available at www.buckhornsteakhouse.com/grassfed or by calling 530-795-1520.
