Citizens Who Care, in partnership with Sudwerk Brewing Co., will host the ninth annual Davis BeerFest on Saturday, June 1. The fundraiser will feature tastings of more than 100 different microbrews.
The BeerFest will run from 2 to 5 p.m. at Sudwerk Restaurant and Brewery, 2001 Second St. in Davis. The admission price includes a commemorative tasting glass, grilled sausage sandwiches, Sudwerk brewery tours and live music performed by three bands — ZuhG, Massive Delicious and Lava Pups.
Tickets are $38 in advance, $45 at the door and $10 for designated drivers. For tickets, visit www.davisbeerfest.org, call 530-758-3704 or visit Sudwerk or the Citizens Who Care office at 409 Lincoln Ave. in Woodland. All guests must be age 21 or over.
Free parking will be available in the Target lot at 4601 Second St., and a free shuttle bus will be provided.
All proceeds benefit Citizens Who Care, a local nonprofit agency offering social support and services to older adults and their family caregivers. Trained volunteers, with the support of professional staff, provide these services.
CWC offers three kinds of social support programs and services:
* The In-Home Respite Visiting Program provides family caregivers of older adults with a weekly break from caregiving;
* The Convalescent Hospital Visiting Program provides companionship and mental stimulation to socially isolated elderly residents. Volunteers of all ages are matched with residents. Some visiting volunteers bring their friendly, well-behaved pets to lift the spirits of residents; and
* The Time Off for Caregivers Program offers site-based social respite (time off) activities at the Davis Senior Center on two Saturdays each month, giving caregivers a five-hour break each program day. The program includes a healthy lunch and a variety of stimulating activities. CWC’s professional staff provides periodic individual assessments of the participants.
