Berryessa Gap Vineyards opens remodeled tasting room

By From page A3 | November 29, 2012

Berryessa Gap Vineyards, a boutique winery in downtown Winters, has recently completed an expansion and remodel of its tasting room at 15 Main St. and will showcase it at an open house from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. Wine specials will be available all day, and the evening will be especially festive as Winters hosts its annual holiday tree-lighting celebration.

Berryessa Gap will feature music by Caroline Hines from 6 to 8 p.m. and light refreshments throughout the day.

The tasting room opened in September 2004 in a quaint storefront that once was a meat market. It was open Fridays and Saturdays from 4 to 8 p.m., and locals managed to buy out the first two commercial releases of Berryessa Gap wines from the shop.

As the wine industry has grown in and around Winters, the tasting room added hours and days and now is open Thursdays through Mondays. The remodeled tasting room has nearly doubled the space available for tasting and features a lounge area as well.

Berryessa Gap features tempranillo, zinfandel and petite sirah. Tasting room hours are 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays; 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; and 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sundays. For more information, visit www.berryessagap.com.
