Eve West Bessier, a writer, musician and visual artist, will be featured at Davis’ Poetry Night Reading Series at 8 p.m. Thursday at the John Natsoulas Gallery, 521 First St. in downtown Davis. Bessier is wrapping up a two-year appointment as Davis’ poet laureate.

In 2000, she received the Kathryn Hohlwein Award and first place for poetry in the California Focus on Writers Contest. Her publications include The North American Review, Kalliope, Lyric, Manzanita, Seeker, “The Sacramento Anthology: One Hundred Poems” and Heart Flip.

In 2011, she was published in the Davis anthology “Entering.” She has two chapbooks, “Roots Music” and “Splash,” both published by dPress. In 2003, her poem “Zoo You, Boogaloo” was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.

Bessier will perform some original work, and unveil her Poetry Tree Video Project, which she has funded with a successful Kickstarter campaign: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/187929903/the-poet-tree-video-project.

The microphone will be open about 9 p.m. and an after-party will begin at 10 p.m.
