Bingo benefits DHS Madrigals

By From page A4 | January 09, 2013

The Davis High School Madrigal Singers will benefit from the Davis Odd Fellows’ bingo fundraiser Sunday afternoon. Doors open at noon at the Odd Fellows Hall, 415 Second St., and games begin at 1 p.m. Cash prizes up to $250, pull-tab instant winners up to $100 and raffle prizes are included in the fun.

The Madrigals, founded in 1966, are an auditioned group of 32 high school students who perform a wide variety of music dating from the 15th century to the present. In their distinctive, Renaissance-inspired costumes, the chamber choir gives about 40 performances annually. This year, they’re raising money for a June trip to Russia and Italy, where they have been invited to sing at choral festivals.

All proceeds from Sunday’s bingo play will go directly to the Madrigals.

The Davis Odd Fellows Bingo Committee supports charitable organizations in Yolo County by sharing proceeds from its monthly bingo games. For more information, visit www.DavisBingo.com or follow the Davis Bingo Facebook page.
