Bird brains invited to guided walk at Lake Solano Park

By
From page A5 | October 04, 2013 |

Visitors to Lake Solano Park on Saturday, Oct. 12, will learn why this area near Winters is a magnet for birds — both year-round and migratory.

Volunteer docent Barbara Cooper will lead a walk around the lake and share lots of bird stories. Visitors should dress in layers and be prepared for cold, wet weather. Don’t forget to bring binoculars, cameras and an inquiring mind.

The program begins at 10 a.m. and the group will meet at the boat ramp/canoe rental area on the day-use side of Lake Solano Park & Campground, 8685 Pleasants Valley Road in Winters.

The presentation is free, but parking costs $5 per vehicle, payable at the entrance to the day-use area. No RSVP is necessary. Heavy rain will cancel the event.

For more information, visit www.solanocounty.com/parks or call 707-432-0150, ext. 200. For same-day information, call 530-795-2990.
