Blood drive set Sunday at St. James

By From page A3 | January 10, 2014

BloodSource will host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, at St. James Catholic Church, 1275 B St.

This event will help to meet the community’s need for blood and blood products. Walk-ins are welcome. Blood donations are used to treat burn victims, transplant patients, people who must undergo surgery, those injured in accidents, patients with leukemia and more.

Donating blood is safe, easy and takes about an hour. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be at least 17 years old (16 with a signed BloodSource Parental consent form) and be generally healthy. There is no upper age limit for blood donations.

Donors must bring a photo ID and should drink plenty of fluids before donating.

Potential marrow donors can register for Be the Match through BloodSource. Find more information at www.bloodsource.org.
