Breast cancer heroes to be honored at film screening

Local breast cancer heroes will be honored before a special screening of the move “FIVE” at the Varsity Theatre on Sunday, May 20.

Sponsored by FORCE (Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered), the event will feature a silent auction and breakfast, followed by a ceremony honoring five breast cancer heroes and concluding with the screening of the movie, which is an anthology of five short films exploring the impact of breast cancer on people’s lives.

The movie was produced by actresses Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore and Alicia Keys.

The local breast cancer heroes being honored are Ann Murray Paige, Dr. Ernie Bodai, Maude Blundell, Dr. Melissa Williams and Sandy Walsh.

Tickets for the event, which runs from 9 a.m. to noon at the Varsity Theatre, 616 Second St., are free and may be reserved at http://sacramentoforcefivemovie.eventbrite.com. Breakfast, from Gourmet Solutionz, must be purchased.
