Beer-pedalers

By From page A3 | March 19, 2013

The beer that Soroptimist International of Davis sells at the Davis Farmers Market’s Picnic in the Park will arrive by bike, thanks to this beautiful new cart built by Sudwerk Brewery’s Brennan Fleming. The cart — made from recycled pallets — holds, cools and has taps for four kegs. From left, are Soroptimists Mary Parton, Carol MacDonald and Heather Barnes; Sudwerk co-owners Trent Yackzan and Ryan Fry; and Soroptimist Dee Clark. Soroptimist volunteers sell Sudwerk beer and local wines, and give all profits to local charities. This week, the taps will feature an IPA, Cristal Weizen (wheat), Mai Bock and “3 Best Friends”: a stout with vanilla and coffee from The Pepper Peddler. Check the Soroptimist International Davis Facebook page for the beer menu each week. Picnic in the Park returns Wednesday from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Central Park. Wendy Weitzel/Courtesy photo
