Author will speak Sunday at Covell Gardens

Author Vicki Ward will speak about her book, “Life’s Spices from Seasoned Sistahs,” at 3 p.m. Sunday at Atria Covell Gardens, 1111 Alvarado Ave. in Davis. Her talk is free and open to the public.

Black Issues Book Review describes “Seasoned Sistahs” as “a book that is peppered with candor, dabbed with sassiness and covered with wisdom gained from living … supplying readers glimpses into other cultures plus advice.”

In 2003, Ward she created Nubian Images Publishing, a small press with a culture and gender focus, publishing stories and books sritten by women of color on subjects of significance to all women.

In 2005, her book “Life’s Spices from Seasoned Sistahs” received the Best Anthology for 2005 Award from The Los Angeles Black Book Expo, the Silver Book of the Year Award, from ForeWord Magazine and honorable mention from the Independent Book Publishers Association.
