Back from Iraq, on ‘Davisville’

By From page A3 | December 12, 2012

Twice this year, Garry Pearson went to Iraq as part of a program to help Iraqis develop their vegetable production. He oversees about 160 research greenhouses at UC Davis, and an ag project recruited him as a technical expert.

On the latest “Davisville,” Pearson talks about what he saw in the Iraqi region of Kurdistan, describing both tension and reasons to hope — hotel guards with AK-47s, and a lively democracy.

“Davisville” airs on KDRT, 95.7 FM, at 5:30 p.m. Mondays, 8:30 a.m. Wednesdays, 7:30 a.m. Saturdays and midnight Saturdays and Sundays. The interview with Pearson debuted Monday and will be broadcast through Dec. 23. It is also available in the KDRT archives at www.kdrt.org/node/10967.
