Blood drive competition pits UC Davis, Sac State

By From page A3 | November 04, 2012

UC Davis and Sacramento State students, faculty and staff are saving lives again through a good-natured competitive fall blood drive coordinated with the Causeway Classic football game.

Sac State kicked off the competition in late October, registering almost 1,800 Sac State community blood donors. UCD will host its blood drive from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 13-14, at The Pavilion. Or, donors can give at the BloodSource Davis Donor Center, 1801 Hanover Drive, Suite A, and designate Sac State’s donor club (L029) or UCD’s (1735).

Donating blood is safe, easy and takes about an hour. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be at least 17 years old (16 with a signed BloodSource parental consent form) and be generally healthy. There is no upper age limit for blood donations. Donors must bring a photo ID and should drink plenty of fluids before donating.

Causeway Classic blood drive donors at UCD will receive a T-shirt and are eligible for prize drawings throughout the drive.
