Burglary suspect caught at the scene

Woodland police arrested a suspected burglar who reportedly passed out at the scene of the crime.

Lt. Anthony Cucchi said officers were summoned shortly before 7:30 p.m. Saturday to a home at 40 Lincoln Ave., where the homeowners had returned to find the house “ransacked, property missing, and an unknown male was passed out inside their residence.”

“The homeowners also discovered some of the doors to the residence had been barricaded from inside the home,” Cucchi said.

The police SWAT team responded to the home when the suspect did not respond to contact attempts and retreated further into the house, but he was eventually found and taken into custody, Cucchi said.

Alejandro Hurtado, 27, Woodland, was lodged at the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of burglary and resisting arrest.
