Children’s book sale helps provide clean water in Africa

By From page A3 | July 09, 2014

Five friends in first through third grades will host a children’s book sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 12, at Westwood Park. All the friends will be attending Breakaway camp at the University Covenant Church the following week and the proceeds raised from the book sale will be donated to the camp’s fundraiser supporting The Water Project.

The Water Project is an organization that provides money to build wells in Africa to give communities access to clean water and proper sanitation. The money collected through Breakaway camp’s fundraising will provide a specific community access to clean water and ensure its maintenance over time.

All of the books have been donated from the children’s own collections or those of friends they have contacted. They will sell for 25 or 50 cents each.

“Come support the efforts of these young people as they seek to have a positive impact on the lives of other children,” a news release said.
