The city of Davis will offer an American Red Cross class that teaches participants how to be prepared for emergencies that involve their dogs. The class will meet from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Community Pool Building, 201 E. 14th St. in Davis.
Created for conscientious pet owners 18 years old and older, this class provides guidance in emergency situations until veterinary care is available. Topics include symptoms and care for nearly 70 canine health conditions; instructions for creating a pet first-aid kit, giving medications, and how to recognize emergencies; and tips on maintaining your pet’s health and well-being.
Pre-registration is required. Register at the city of Davis Community Services office, 23 Russell Blvd., or online at http://www.cityofdavis.org.
The cost is $30, plus a $15 materials fees due on the first day of class to cover the cost of the dog first-aid textbook, which is bundled with a DVD in the back cover that demonstrates how to perform many of the first-aid steps described in the textbook.
