City recreation scholarships available

By From page A4 | February 06, 2013

The city of Davis allocates scholarship money each year to low-income residents to help offset the cost of city recreation programs.

Those who qualify will receive 50 percent of program fees up to their allotted household amount. Because the amount of funding and number of subsidy requests varies, the city is not able to provide a specific income cut-off for applications. Families with the lowest incomes will be granted subsidies first.

Applications for scholarships to be used this summer, fall and next winter/spring are being accepted. The deadline to apply during this initial application period, and to be eligible for the maximum amount of funding, is Feb. 15.

A small portion of funds will be set aside for applications received after the initial application period and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Scholarship applications are available at the Community Services Department, 600 A St., Suite C, or online at www.cityofdavis.org.
