Community planting day is Saturday

By
From page A4 | October 31, 2013 |

In two hours, participants in Saturday’s community planting day organized by the UC Davis Arboretum will be responsible for kicking off the transformation of a once-empty lot behind the Davis Commons shopping center to vibrant green space filled with flora specific to the lower Putah Creek watershed region.

The planting project will run from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the California Native Plant GATEway Garden behind Davis Commons, First and E streets. The event is free. Participants are encouraged to walk or bike to the event, but parking is available nearby.

A second planting day is planned Sunday, Nov. 24.
