Cops wait tables for Special Olympics

Law-enforcement personnel will serve as celebrity waiters Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Red Robin restaurant at 2031 Bronze Star Drive in Woodland, with their “tips” donated to Special Olympics. Officers will be on hand for the lunch (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and dinner (4 to 8 p.m.) shifts.

Tip-A-Cop is a national Law Enforcement Torch Run Campaign fundraiser for Special Olympics. The national goal of the 2013 Tip-A-Cop event is to raise $750,000 from all participating Torch Run programs. The local group hopes to raise $2,000.

Organizers also seek Special Olympics athletes who are outgoing and friendly to volunteer as greeters. Contact Donna Romero at [email protected] or 925-944-8801, ext. 215, for details.
