Davisite talks about his work in Tanzania

By From page A4 | September 22, 2013

Don Lotter of Davis will give a free talk at International House on “Working on Food Security and Environmental Sustainability in Tanzania” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.

Lotter will show slides and talk about his work in a food-insecure region of Tanzania that is rapidly being deforested for cooking fuel and that suffers crop failures due to drought. His projects include turning agricultural waste into pelletized cooking fuel and using the pellets as fuel in low-cost Top-Lit-Up-Draft stoves; as well as testing micro-scale zero-tillage crop production to increase sustainability and productivity.

The public is invited to this free presentation. For more information, call I-House at 530-753-5007.
