Davis Musical Theatre Company is cutting the cards and dealing an evening of Texas hold ‘em poker action on Saturday, Feb. 11, in the DMTC lobby, 607 Peña Drive. Thousands of dollars in prizes are up for grabs throughout the night with a final-round showdown on the DMTC stage for the evening’s highest roller.
Registration for the fundraising event begins at 6:30 p.m., with first hand dealt at 7 p.m. The buy-in for the tournament is $40 and re-buys and add-ons are planned. All donations for the evening’s game are tax-deductible and proceeds benefit Davis Musical Theatre Company’s main stage and young people’s productions.
“During the night will be a ‘bad beat’ jackpot prize for that player who had a great hand and, under normal circumstances, would have won, but just got beat by a phenomenal hand,” said Adam Sartain, event organizer.
“The highlight of the evening will be the final round that will take place on the theater’s stage, bathed in dramatic lighting. Other attendees, not involved in the finals, will be able to gather ’round and watch to see who will be the champ.”
Prizes are being added daily, but to date include three nights’ lodging at a Disneyland property or six nights’ lodging at a Disney World property, dinner personally prepared at home by the Le Cordon Bleu Academy executive chef, field club-level tickets to a San Francisco Giants game and a $50 Chicago Fire gift certificate.
A no-host bar will be available with waitress table service, and in the tradition of poker, pizza also will be available. Entertainment will be provided throughout the evening with performances from DMTC’s productions of “Chicago” and “Damn Yankees.”
