Donate canned food, help pick it up

By From page A7 | November 16, 2012

Local residents are asked to put canned food donations for STEAC, the Short-Term Emergency Aid Committee, outside next to their mailboxes on Saturday morning for pickup by local Realtors, postal employees and community volunteers.

The annual food drive, co-sponsored by the Yolo County Board of Realtors and U.S. Post Office employees, is a major provider for the STEAC food closet, which supplies food for more than 64,500 meals each year in Davis.

“STEAC has experienced a huge increase in demand this year for services provided by our food closet,” said board president Cass Sylvia.

STEAC needs volunteers to pick up food all around Davis; if you have a couple of hours to spare, give the STEAC office a call at 530-758-8435. Volunteers will report to the post office at 2020 Fifth St. between 10 and 10:15 a.m. Saturday to pick up their route.
