Donate food and pay off library fines

Woodland Public Library is once again offering its “Food for Fines” program from Monday, Nov. 28, through Thursday, Dec. 22. Library patrons are invited to bring nonperishable canned or boxed food in good condition to the circulation desk of the library during open hours. Each can of food will remove $1 from the patron’s overdue fines.

“Please make sure the canned or boxed food items are within the expiration date, and do not donate items packaged in glass,” said Patty Lakie, a library spokeswoman. “This is a wonderful opportunity to clear overdue fines while helping to stock the Food Bank.”

The “Food for Fines” program applies only to overdue fines, Lakie said.

The collected food will be donated to the Food Bank of Yolo County. For more information, call the library at (530) 661-5980.
