Exchange canned food for instrument strings Saturday

By From page A4 | November 08, 2013

Watermelon Music and the D’Addario Company are offering free strings for your guitar, bass, mandolin or ukulele in exchange for donations of canned foods for those in need.

Simply bring in your instrument this Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. — along with at least two nonperishable food items — and staff members of the music store will install a brand-new set of D’Addario brand strings as well as tune and polish your instrument. Watermelon Music is at 207 E St. in Davis and 527 Main St. in Woodland.

All food items received in Davis will be donated to Davis Community Meals, while donations received in Woodland will go to the United Way, helping people in need during the upcoming holiday season. Any extra donations will be accepted with gratitude.

There’s a limit of two instruments per household or person.

For more information or to donate your time restringing instruments, call Watermelon Music at 530-758-4010.
