Family nature walks set at Stebbins Cold Canyon

Two family nature walks will be offered Saturday, May 24, at Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve. Families are encouraged to join UC Davis interns on a fun and engaging nature walk.

From 10 to 11 a.m., participants will learn about biodiversity and appreciate the beauty of nature on a “Mindfulness in Nature” walk. From 11 a.m. to noon, walkers will learn about where water comes from and how everyone can use it more thoughtfully.

To reach the reserve, which is operated by UC Davis, head west on Covell Boulevard through Winters, following Highway 128 toward Lake Berryessa. Approximately 8.5 miles west of Winters, the highway crosses Putah Creek. Overflow parking for Stebbins in on the right just after the bridge. The primary parking area (often full on weekends) is on the right, 0.2 miles after the creek crossing.

A silver fire gate — located on the outside of the sharp bend in the highway — marks the main entrance to the reserve on the left-hand side of the road. The group will meet at the gate; look for the “Stebbins Nature Walk” sign.
