First responders get free advanced training

By From page A7 | February 12, 2013

Cooks Collision of Davis is sponsoring a night of advanced training for all local first responders. The training will focus on the proper care and handling of disabled individuals at accident scenes and mass casualty incidents.

Training will run from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Cooks Collision of Davis, 1665 Research Park Drive in South Davis, and will be presented by Scene Of The Accident, a nonprofit organization based in Texas.

With more than 17 percent of the U.S. population reporting a disability, first responders — paramedics, firefighters and police officers — need proper training to ensure the most favorable outcomes when disaster strikes, a news release said.

Attendance is free, thanks to sponsorship by Cooks Collision of Davis. For more information, contact Peter Abeyta at 530-204-4160 or [email protected].
