César Chávez Elementary School is putting a new twist on a popular annual event as it debuts a Bike Swap from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at the school, 1221 Anderson Road.

Organizers are modeling the Bike Swap on the successful Davis High School Ski Swap, at which gently used ski/snow equipment and clothing are consigned or donated and purchased.

At the Bike Swap, visitors can:

* Sell their bike; Chávez will get 25 percent of the sale price;

* Donate their bike; Chávez will get 100 percent of the sale price;

* Buy a new used bike from the selection available.

Donated bikes and the 25 percent commissions are tax-deductible.

Bikes may be dropped off at the César Chávez multipurpose room between 3 and 6 p.m. Saturday, April 13, or between 7 and 9 a.m. Sunday, April 14, the day of the swap.

Volunteers also are needed to help price bikes during drop-off times and to sell bikes during the event. For more information, contact Jill Bonner at bonnerjill@gmail.com or 530-330-4315.
