Get tips on prepping your garden for winter

By From page A5 | November 27, 2012

Are your garden beds ready for winter weather?

Local residents are invited to visit the Ruth Risdon Storer Garden at the UC Davis Arboretum for a guided tour from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday to find out how Arboretum gardeners are prepping it for winter.

The Ruth Risdon Storer Garden is a drought-tolerant landscape, featuring many Arboretum All-Stars — plants especially well-suited for Central Valley gardens — flowering perennials and small shrubs.

What should you cut back and how far? Should you divide your plants and transplant? Get tips like these and more at the tour.

Parking is free on weekends and available in Visitor Lot 55 just outside the Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital or along Garrod Drive. For more information, call 530-752-4880 or visit arboretum.ucdavis.edu.
