Take Back Our Democracy will observe Earth Day at the Varsity Theatre with a screening of “Greedy Lying Bastards” at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27. The theater is at 616 Second St. in downtown Davis. Tickets are $7.

The documentary reveals how oil tycoons used the media and their vast fortunes to cast doubt on the science of global warming.

“Exposing industry-driven lies on the effect of fossil fuels in climate change is critically important as we debate the Keystone XL pipeline and hydrofracking throughout California,” says organizer Mary Zhu of Davis.

All are welcome to gather at Mishka’s Cafe, 610 Second St., after the film to discuss the issues. There will be petitions supporting several bills in Sacramento calling for accountability from the oil industry and moratoriums/bans on fracking in California.

For more information, email Zhu at [email protected].
