Hear folktales and riddles at I-House

By From page A4 | July 16, 2014

On Sunday, July 20, put down the video games and turn off the TV. Bring the kids and grandkids over to International House, Davis, to hear Bay Area storyteller Ruth Halpern share “Story Riddles from Around the World.” Her presentation will run from 2 to 3 p.m. at I-House, 10 College Park.

These are brain-teasers and puzzlers that will tickle the minds of all ages.

Halpern has been collecting and performing stories around the world for more than 20 years. She tells a mixture of world folktales, personal stories and improvised stories made up on the spot.

Her audiotape, “She Set Out to Seek Her Fortune,” won a Parents’ Choice Gold Award and was honored as one of Parents’ Choice’s Best Children’s Audio of the Last 25 Years. The Los Angeles Times calls her “a spell-binding master storyteller.”

Admission is free for I-House members. Nonmembers are asked for a $2 donation or $5 per family.
