Learn Mahjong at the Senior Center

A group of dedicated — some might say addicted — American mahjong players gather at the Davis Senior Center, 646 A St., from noon to 4 p.m. each Monday to continue the 75-year tradition of playing American mahjong.

April is the first month of the American mahjong year, and this April several players will hold two tutorial sessions in the center’s Game Room. The first session will be Tuesday, April 9, from 9 to 11 a.m. and the second will be Thursday, April 11, from 1 to 3 p.m.

The tutorials are open to anyone, with no requirement to know anything about the game. Individuals who have some knowledge of mahjong will advance more rapidly through the process, but beginners still can learn to play fairly quickly.

Reservations are not required. For more information, contact Janice Bridge at [email protected] or 530-753-6802.
