“The Quest for Local Honey” will be screened from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis, 27074 Patwin Road. All are invited for the film and discussion, plus a taste of honey afterward.

A suggested donation of $5 to $10 will go toward a fund for a water source on the church grounds that will support bees and other wildlife.

“Billions of bees are dying,” a news release said. “In California, the biggest food producer in the United States, beekeepers are losing 40 percent of their bees each year. Scientists are sounding the alarm about pesticides that are toxic to bees, and say we’re using way more pesticides on our crops than we need.”

The film was written and produced by residents of Nevada City, highlighting Nevada and Placer counties.
