Prostate cancer group hosts talk on drug

By July 5, 2011

Sutter Health oncologist and hematologist Dr. Melissa Williams will discuss Provenge, a prostate cancer treatment drug made from a patient’s own immune cells, at Monday’s meeting of the Yolo Prostate Cancer Support Group.

Medicare recently announced it will pay for Provenge, the only FDA-approved treatment for advanced prostate cancer.

In addition, Tom Pfister of Timm Medical Technologies will discuss a therapy device to help men compensate for erectile dysfunction.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in Sutter Medical Foundation’s first-floor conference room at 2030 Risling Way (formerly Sutter Place) in Davis. Attendance is free of charge.
