Men will gather for talk, drum circle

The next Davis Community Men’s Talk & Drum Circle will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at FamiliesFirst, 2100 Fifth St., next door to the main post office. The group gathers upstairs in the Program Building. All men 18 years and older are welcome, and there is no charge for these monthly gatherings.

“We know that there are important benefits when men sit together in council and talk honestly from their hearts,” a news release said. “Here we can see what we are carrying, without judgment and without advice from others; our own true experience. We know, as we name our internal reactions out loud, it affords our own wisdom to be of service.

“As we enter our new year, there is much work we as men have to do, to cultivate our own mature masculinity, to deepen our nurturing, our tenderness, our relational skills and our creativity.”

For more than two years, the talk circles have created “a safe place for men to sit shoulder to shoulder and listen to that which holds meaning and value,” the news release said. For more information, call 530-758-2794.
