All are invited to celebrate a summer’s worth of Discovery Art at the Davis Art Center on Friday evening during the closing reception for “Momentum: Art in Action/Creativity in Motion.” The event coincides with the Second Friday ArtAbout and runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at 1919 F St.
Peregrine School will host activities for the whole family, and the wings, Wheels & Widgets play space will be open for last time. Guests can bring home a memento of “Momentum”: do-it-yourself mobile-making kits, each with a colorful wheel from the Kinetic Playground, will be available for purchase for $100 each, while supplies last.
The finished “Off the Grid” installation will be revealed, and guests will celebrate the completion of “Moving Parts,” the mural that Art Center visitors have watched transform since artist Mark Rivera first color-washed the canvases in swaths of blue during the opening of the exhibit almost two months ago.
That piece of artwork — created with Margo Mullen, Camille Shea-Lichter and Rachel Hartsough — is for sale. All proceeds will go to support the continuation of the Discovery Art Program.
