NAMI-Yolo recognizes Mental Illness Awareness Week

All are welcome to celebrate Mental Illness Awareness Week at a rally and reception at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, in the atrium of the Yolo County Administration Building, 625 Court St. in Woodland.

Speakers will include Michele Kellogg, executive director of Yolo Community Care Continuum, and Yolo County Supervisor Don Saylor. Awards will be presented for outstanding contributions by key individuals to the support of those who suffer from severe mental illness. Daniel Lee will be remembered with a celebration of life ceremony. The evening will conclude with a candlelight vigil.

At noon Tuesday, Oct. 9, a National Day of Prayer meeting is planned for mental illness recovery and understanding at the American Lutheran Church, 1114 College St. in Woodland. The Rev. Mary Adelsberger will conduct the service.
