Neurologist addresses support group
Local residents who suffer from peripheral neuropathy will gather for their monthly meeting from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Davis Senior Center, 646 A St. Dr. Arish Y. Eduljee, a neurologist with Woodland Healthcare, will be the speaker.
Experts say there are more than 100 causes of peripheral neuropathy? Diabetes accounts for about one-third, but other causes include heredity, alcoholism, radiation, toxic chemical exposure, HIV, too much vitamin B6, gluten intolerance and some medications. Common symptoms affecting feet and hands are numbness, extreme sensitivity to touch, tingling, burning, shooting pains and constriction.
