The 12-week Parent Project, which offers parents guidance on dealing with troublesome teenage behavior, will start in January with weekly classes continuing into April.
University Covenant Church is sponsoring the program, with local psychologist Deborah Kimokeo and therapist intern Cathy Sacks co-facilitating.
The program — which will take place on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. (beginning Wednesday, Jan. 9), at University Covenant Church, 315 Mace Blvd. — costs $60 per person. Parents will learn about helping youths ages 11 to 19 change and avoid destructive behavior, including drugs, alcohol, gangs, negative peer pressure and relationships, as well as troublesome communication issues.
Registration is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration forms are available in the church office. For more information, call Kimokeo at 530-757-1812 or register online at ucov.com/go/parent.
