Physicist speaks Tuesday in Chancellor’s Colloquium Series

Physicist Kumar Patel will be the featured speaker at 4 p.m. Tuesday as part of the UC Davis Chancellor’s Colloquium Series. Patel is a professor of physics and electrical engineering at UCLA. He also has served as UCLA’s vice chancellor for research.

Patel invented the carbon dioxide laser. He was inducted this year into the National Inventors Hall of Fame, and received the 1996 National Medal of Science.

His speech at UCD, a free event, will be in the Vanderhoef Studio Theatre at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts.
