Prostate cancer treatment discussed

Michael J. McCarthy, chairman of the UC Davis department of food science and technology, will discuss “A patient’s perspective on brachytherapy for treatment of prostate cancer” at the Yolo Prostate Cancer Support Group’s May 13 meeting.

McCarthy, who underwent treatment six months ago after extended active surveillance, will describe his radiation and implant treatment, side-effects and what he learned about low-dose-rate brachytherapy.

Men with prostate cancer, family members and friends are invited to attend the 7 p.m. gathering at the Woodland Community & Senior Center, 2001 East St. Admission is free.
