The Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Center will offer state-certified training in peer counseling to volunteer and intern applicants.
Topics in the 65-hour training include types of domestic and sexual violence, cycle of violence, effects of violence on children, child sexual abuse investigations, safety planning, and working with law enforcement, Child Protective Services and the District Attorney’s Office. V
olunteer opportunities include crisis line advocacy; children’s program; Russian, Latina, and Asian Pacific Islander outreach; youth education; and outreach and legal advocacy.
The training will be at the SADVC office, 175 Walnut St. in Woodland, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 5:30 to 10 p.m. Mondays, starting Oct. 5. Training continues on Oct. 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 and 28, and Nov. 2, 4, 9, 16 and 18. All training days are mandatory. All dates and locations are subject to change.
