Seniors seek input on group’s mission

The Senior Citizens of Davis Inc. will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday to redefine the group’s purpose and mission. Currently, SCD functions as a nonprofit organization, whose funds are used primarily for enhancing the services and programs of the Davis Senior Center.

The meeting will follow the popular World Café format. Tables of six people will be set up with a historian at each table to record conversations resulting from a series of questions regarding SCD’s future. The historian will remain at the assigned first table, while the other five people rotate two more times to new tables. Each table session will be 20 minutes long, for a total of one hour of discussion.

At the end of the three table sessions, the historians will summarize all the responses they have heard to the questions. An informal public discussion will complete the morning’s event.

Everyone is invited. The attendance of a wide spectrum of the community, both young and old, is essential for SCD to obtain the kind of feedback needed for change, an organizer said.

The facilitator for the program is Orit Kalman, a certified mediator and member of the Senior Citizens Commission of Davis. For more information, contact SCD board president Margot Loschke at mloschke@sbcglobal.net.
