The Davis Police Department is taking sign-ups for a five-week self-defense course for women.

RAD — Rape Aggression Defense — teaches awareness and prevention techniques, as well as realistic self-defense tactics. The course is taught by Davis Police Department employees who are nationally certified RAD instructors.

The upcoming series will be taught from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 7 to March 7, at a location to be announced. There is a $25 nonrefundable materials fee, and participants must attend all five classes. Space is limited.

Reserve a space by contacting Colleen Turay at 530-747-5427 or Tanya Nakatani at 530-747-5405.
