‘Simply Christian’ discussion begins Sunday

By From page A6 | February 07, 2014

Is it intellectually irresponsible to believe in God?

Or, perhaps more to the point, does acceptance of Christianity necessitate abandonment of reason?
Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church in Davis will offer a 10-week discussion addressing these questions and others in exploring the validity of the Christian world view. Open-minded and skeptical members of the community are invited to join the conversation with members of Christ the Redeemer.
The discussion will be based on short video presentations by Oxford scholar N. T. Wright, who undertakes a balanced and respectful discussion of these topics in his book, “Simply Christian.”

The first discussion is at 5:15 p.m. Sunday at Christ the Redeemer’s place of worship at Our Faith Lutheran Church, 1801 Oak Ave. in Davis. The discussion follows the church’s Sunday worship at 4 p.m. All subsequent sessions will be held at the same time and place.

Attendance is free and refreshments will be served. Child care will be provided.
