Skydivers will perform at airport

Davis residents who want to see the SkyDance SkyDiving Demonstration Team perform on the Fourth of July will need to visit the Yolo County Airport this year.

Ray Ferrell, owner of the local company based at the airport, said the skydivers will not be parachuting into Davis’ Community Park this year, ending a 20-year tradition. A dispute with the city over insurance is to blame, he said.

Instead, the team will make its holiday jump at about 7 p.m. over the Yolo County Airport, 24390 Aviation Ave., northwest of Davis. All are welcome to see the free demonstration, which will conclude with a skydiver carrying a giant American flag back to Earth.
