Social media employed to benefit Ben Davis

By From page A7 | September 21, 2012

Supporters of Ben Davis, a Davis resident who is battling an auto-immune disease that is causing his nerves to degenerate, will gather from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Sudwerk for a fundraising kickoff event to support his health care fund. Sudwerk is at 2001 Second St. in Davis.

Those who attend will be urged to “like” the Ben Davis fundraiser on Facebook, and to otherwise get the word out to donate through YouCaring.com (Ben Davis fundraiser), or directly to the Ben Davis Fund at Yolo Federal Credit Union, 501 G St. in Davis.

This crowdfunding effort asks only a little — perhaps what you might otherwise spend on a coffee or tea this week — from any one person, and asks that each person try to involve two or three others to do the same.

“If we keep the ‘circle of caring’ growing, we will provide the care Ben needs,” a news release said.

Many merchants and artisans have contributed raffle prizes, and music will be provided by Elements of Soul and David Hafter. For more information, email [email protected].
